Eines
Tages stolperte ich über einen Film, der "Die Mothman Prophezeiungen"
hieß und sich mit der Vorhersehung von Katastrophen beschäftigt. Der
Fokus dieser Prophezeihungen liegt dabei auf einer paranormalen
Existenz, welche von verschiedenen Augenzeugen als großer Mann mit
Schmetterlings- oder Mottenflügeln beschrieben wird - sie nennen ihn den
Mothmann (zu dt.: der Mottenmann).
Der Film selbst hat eine düstere und eindringliche Atmosphäre, die mich sofort ansprach.
Noch Jahre später dachte ich von Zeit zu Zeit über den Mottenmann nach.
Als
ich dieses Gemälde fertiggestellt hatte, dachten meine Familie und ich
sofort dasselbe: obwohl ich es in meinem Bewusstsein nicht bemerkte,
hatte ich den Mothman von damals gemalt.
One day I stumbled across a movie called "The Mothman Prophecies", which deals with the foreseeing of catastrophes. Center of attention of these prophecies is a paranormal existence described by people as a tall man with the giant wings of a butterfly or a moth on his back - they call him the Mothman.
The movie itself has a very dark and haunting atmosphere, that immediately spoke to me.
Years after watching it I still thought about the Mothman from time to time.
When
I finished this painting my whole family and I had the same thought
right away: even though I never had it in my conscious mind, I painted
the Mothman.
